JAMB Releases Official Cut-Off Marks for 2025 Admissions: JAMB has officially announced the minimum cut-off marks for the 2025 admission exercise into universities, polytechnics, and colleges across Nigeria.
University Cut-Off Mark: 150
According to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), 150 is the general minimum score required for admission into universities.
Polytechnics & Colleges of Education: 100
For those aiming to enter polytechnics or colleges of education, the board has pegged 100 as the minimum cut-off mark.
Colleges of Nursing Sciences: 140
If you’re going for nursing, take note 140 is the minimum score required to apply to Colleges of Nursing Sciences.
Important Note for All Candidates
These cut-off marks are minimum requirements. This means that schools are allowed to raise their own cut-off marks above JAMB’s benchmark but not below it.
So even if JAMB says 150 for universities, some top schools may still decide to set theirs at 200 or more, depending on how competitive the course is.
Who Was at the Meeting?
The announcement was made by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
Present at the meeting were:
- The Minister of Education
- Vice-chancellors
- Rectors
- Registrars
- And other key education stakeholders
They all gathered to discuss and finalize this year’s admission process and standards.
Age Requirement Still Stands
One major point that was re-emphasized at the meeting is that the minimum age for admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria remains 16 years. If you’re not yet 16, you’re not eligible for admission — even if your score is high.
📝 What Next for Candidates?
Now that JAMB has released the cut-off marks, most public universities and polytechnics will begin selling their Post-UTME forms soon.
Advice: Start checking your school of choice regularly so you don’t miss the application window.
