JAMB Reminds Tertiary Institutions of 2025/2026 Admission Deadlines: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reminded universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria to strictly follow the approved deadlines for completing admissions into the 2025/2026 academic session.
This reminder appeared in JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin after the 2025 Policy Meeting, which was chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. The board warned that institutions must stick to the official timelines. This compliance is essential for ensuring a smooth admission process for both schools and prospective students.
Official Deadlines for 2025/2026 Admissions
JAMB emphasized that each type of institution has its cut-off date for completing admissions:
- Public Universities – Deadline: October 31, 2025
- Private Universities – Deadline: November 30, 2025
- Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, and Other Tertiary Institutions – Deadline: December 31, 2025
Uploading Admission Lists on JAMB CAPS
As part of the reminder, JAMB also noted when institutions should submit their admission lists on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS):
- Public Universities must finish Post-UTME screening and upload lists by September 30, 2025.
- Private Universities must submit their lists by October 31, 2025.
This process ensures that all admissions can be properly checked, approved, and processed on time before final offers are made.
Institutions with Delayed Academic Sessions
JAMB acknowledged that some universities may not be ready to start academic activities right away. However, these institutions are still required to complete and archive their admission lists by the official deadlines. The board made it clear that admission timelines will not change, even if matriculation is delayed.
Why the Reminder Matters
JAMB’s reminder is not just a routine announcement; it aims to:
- Prevent Admission Delays – Students will know their admission status early.
- Stabilize Academic Calendars – Schools can maintain order without overlapping sessions.
- Ensure National Uniformity – All tertiary institutions work within the same framework.
What Candidates Should Do
- For prospective students, this reminder means:
- Follow up on your Post-UTME or screening exercise early.
- Check JAMB CAPS regularly for admission updates.
- Stay informed through your school’s official website and JAMB’s announcements.
