26 bag first class as Borno varsity graduates 2,294 students: Sir Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri, Borno State, has produced 26 first class graduates out of a total of 2,294 students at its combined convocation ceremony.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Babagana Gutti, disclosed this while addressing journalists at a press briefing. He said the institution produced a total of 2,294 graduates across different degree classes.

According to him, the convocation ceremony will take place on January 3, 2026, and it will cover three academic sessions which are 2022 2023, 2023 2024, and 2024 2025.

Professor Gutti explained that the first set consisted of 523 students, out of which five students graduated with first class honours.

He said the second set from the 2023 2024 academic session had 489 graduating students, and ten of them earned first class degrees across four faculties.

For the third set from the 2024 2025 academic session, the university will graduate 1,282 students. Out of this number, 13 students finished with first class honours across four faculties.

The Vice Chancellor said the convocation ceremony will mark nine years of academic growth and also highlight the university’s contribution to the development of future leaders, the host community, and the country.

He also revealed that a pre convocation lecture will hold on Friday, January 2, 2026. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Michael O. Faborode, a former Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.

The lecture is titled Insecurity and Environmental Fragility in the Lake Chad Basin Areas Education Health and Sustainable Agriculture Tripartite to the Rescue.

Professor Gutti added that the convocation activities will include the conferment of degrees, presentation of prizes, and the investiture of a new Chancellor.

He announced that the Visitor to the university and Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, approved the appointment of a new Chancellor for the institution.

The new Chancellor is His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, CFR, the Ooni of Ife. The investiture ceremony will take place before the conferment of degrees and award of prizes, in line with academic tradition.
