Beware of Fake Admission Adverts – MOUAU Cautions the Public: Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) has issued a strong warning to the public against fake and unauthorized admission advertisements related to its College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) programmes.
Founded in 1992 and named after the former Premier of Eastern Nigeria, Dr. Michael Okpara, the university is a federal institution located in Umudike, Abia State. MOUAU is well known for offering quality education in agriculture and related fields, including management and economics.
Recently, the University Management became aware of some misleading advertisements circulating on social media. These adverts invite candidates who scored 150 and above in the JAMB UTME to apply for admission into COLMAS programmes such as Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Marketing, and Business Administration.

The University wants to make it absolutely clear that those promoting or sponsoring these adverts are not known to, or approved by, the University Management. The public should be aware that these adverts are fake and not from MOUAU.
However, the good news is that all COLMAS undergraduate programmes are now fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). They have also been included in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) official programme listing called IBASS. This means the university is now fully authorized to admit students into these programmes starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.
Prospective students seeking admission in the 2025/2026 session are free to change their institution or course on the JAMB portal and choose MOUAU if they wish to study any of the listed programmes. There is no official cut-off mark yet from JAMB or the university’s Admissions Board for these courses.
MOUAU therefore distances itself from the false adverts and advises everyone—especially admission seekers—not to fall for such scams. For accurate and trustworthy information, please visit the university’s official website: www.mouau.edu.ng.
