How Will You Know That UNN Has Given You Admission?: I know one of the biggest questions that comes up after writing the UNN Post-UTME is this: How will I know if UNN has given me admission? I want to share everything I have learned about the UNN admission list, when it normally comes out, and the simple ways you can check it without stress.
What Is the UNN Admission List?
The UNN admission list is simply the official list of candidates who have been offered provisional admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. It usually carries the names of students, their JAMB registration numbers, and the courses they have been given.
I will say that this list is always one of the most expected updates after Post-UTME. Once it drops, both UTME and Direct Entry candidates can finally know if their efforts paid off.
When Is the UNN Admission List Supposed To Be Out?
From my own experience, UNN doesn’t give a fixed date. But I want you to know that it usually comes out about one month after Post-UTME screening registration ends.
Let’s say for example, if Post-UTME registration closes in August, you should expect the first admission list around September.
Also, UNN doesn’t release the full list once. I have seen how they release it in batches: first batch (merit), then first, second and third, supplementary lists or more additional. So even if your name is not in the first one, I will advise you not to panic. Keep checking because you may still find your name in the later batches.
Do You Really Need To Go to School To Know If You Are Given Admission?
The truth is no, you don’t need to travel to Nsukka or Enugu campus to confirm. I want to assure you that UNN has made the process very easy.
You can check in two main ways:
- On the official UNN admission list PDF that is uploaded on their portal.
- On the JAMB CAPS platform.
Both methods can be done with just your phone or laptop. Let’s check it: if you misplace your login details or don’t know how to do it yourself, you can also visit any JAMB CBT centre and they will help you.
How To Check Your Name in the UNN Admission List
Here’s how I have done it before on the UNN website:
- Go to www.unn.edu.ng.
- Check the “Admission List” section under News/Announcements
- Download the admission list PDF for your session.
- Open it and search with your name or JAMB registration number.
- If you see your details, then congratulations, you have admission!
- This method is free once the school uploads the list.
How To Check Through JAMB CAPS
Another way I will recommend is JAMB CAPS, because sometimes JAMB updates the status before UNN uploads the PDF.
To check on JAMB CAPS:
- Go to https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/Login and log in.
- On your dashboard, click Check Admission Status.
- Pick your exam year and type your JAMB registration number. (But might appear automatically)
- Click Access my CAPS.
- On the left side, choose Admission Status.
If you have been offered admission, the course and institution will appear. You will also see the option to accept or reject it.
How To Check at a JAMB CBT Centre
I have also seen people who couldn’t log in themselves. In that case, the best thing is to go to a JAMB CBT centre near you. Just give them your JAMB registration number, and with a little service fee, they will print out your admission status for you.
How To Accept or Reject Admission Through SMS
I want you to know JAMB also has an SMS option. If you are offered admission, you may get a text on the phone number you used for JAMB.
The message usually tells you to send your JAMB registration number followed by ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019. But not everybody gets this option, so I will still suggest you confirm on CAPS.
Conclusion
So, how will you know if UNN has given you admission? It’s not as hard as people think. You don’t have to travel all the way to Nsukka. With your phone, you can check through the UNN portal, JAMB CAPS, SMS, or even at a CBT centre.
To sum it up: the admission list normally comes out about one month after Post-UTME registration closes. Just keep checking the portal and CAPS regularly, and once your name appears, make sure you accept your admission quickly.
