Nigerian Lady Graduates with Double First-Class in Law, Fulfills Childhood Dream: A brilliant Nigerian scholar, Soyinka Taiwo, has achieved an outstanding academic milestone by graduating with First-Class Honours in both her undergraduate Law degree and from the Nigerian Law School, fulfilling her long-held dream of becoming a lawyer.
The young scholar’s journey to this remarkable height began when she was just 11 years old. According to her, the dream was born after watching a courtroom scene in a movie with her parents. Inspired by what she saw, she turned to them and said, “That’s who I want to be.”
From that moment, Taiwo made up her mind to pursue a career in law. Her determination led her to make a major decision during her senior secondary school years — she switched from the sciences to the arts in order to stay true to her passion.
Supported by her family and motivated by her father’s encouragement, she gained admission into Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, in 2018. Through hard work, focus, and faith, she completed her studies and graduated in 2023 with a First-Class Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
However, Taiwo’s story did not end there. In 2024, she proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, a phase she described as even more demanding and intense. Despite the pressure, she remained committed and prayerful, determined to excel.
Her efforts paid off as she once again graduated with First-Class Honours and also emerged as the Best Student in Civil Litigation, a course she had once considered her weakest.
Speaking after her Call to the Nigerian Bar, Taiwo expressed deep gratitude to God, her family, and mentors for their unwavering support. She described her success as not only an academic victory but a testimony of faith, perseverance, and personal growth.
“It wasn’t just about the results,” she said, “it was about the journey, the faith, and the growth that came with it.”
Taiwo, now a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, noted that her goal is to contribute meaningfully to the legal profession while learning from senior colleagues at the Bar.
She also encouraged young students never to give up on their dreams, no matter how challenging the path may seem, adding that passion and consistency always yield results.
Her story continues to inspire many across Nigeria, showing that with dedication, discipline, and divine guidance, even the biggest dreams can become reality.
