The InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition 8.0 is now ongoing for secondary school students across Nigeria.

This competition focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). It was created to encourage students who have interest in innovation and scientific learning. Over time, it has become one of the biggest science competitions organized for secondary school students in Nigeria.

Requirements for InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition 2026

To be considered for the competition, applicants must:

Be a Year 11 student (SS2)

Be between the ages of 14 and 17 years

Schools normally select students who already have good performance in science subjects, so preparation is important.

Selection Process

Registration is free and will remain open until 11:59 pm, Friday, 22 May 2026.

Here is how the process works:

  • Schools can register up to twenty (20) SS2 science students.
  • Students will not travel for the qualifying examination because it is fully online.
  • The examination can be written in school, at home, or any convenient location.
  • Online CBT exams will hold from June 9 to June 16, 2026, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm daily.
  • Students will choose a suitable date and time.
  • Each participant will have two examination attempts, and the system will select the better score.
  • Mixed schools must register at least two female students among their candidates.

Step 1: Register Online

Step 2: Choose Registration Method

The competition allows two registration options.

Individual Registration

Parents or guardians can register students directly on the platform. This option is suitable for home-schooled students or students whose schools are not participating.

School Registration

Schools must register a minimum of six (6) and a maximum of twenty (20) SS2 science students.

Schools are expected to present their best science students regardless of religion, tribe, or state of origin. Mixed schools must include at least two female students among their representatives.

Examination Stages

First Stage

All registered candidates will participate in the first online examination according to the schedule provided by the organizers.

Second Stage

Students who score 75 percent and above will proceed to the next qualifying round. From this stage, the best 81 students will move to Stage Two, which is the televised quiz competition.

Additional details include:

  • The examination will run for five days, eight hours daily.
  • Students can select any available time within the examination period.
  • Each student will have a five-minute demo session before starting the test.
  • Every candidate will have two CBT attempts, and the higher score will be recorded.
