Man Advises Parents: “Don’t Send Daughters to School If You Can’t Afford It” – I have come across a video that really stirred up a lot of reactions online. A young Nigerian man went viral after saying something many people didn’t expect. He said parents who can’t fully afford school fees should stop sending their daughters to school and instead think of teaching them trades.
In that video, he made it very clear: “Nigerian parents, if you know you can’t pay your daughters’ school fees, please stop sending them to school.” I want to say that the point he raised is strong, even though it’s controversial. According to him, many families force their daughters into schools, sometimes even into universities, without being able to provide proper financial support. Let’s stay for example, a girl who is in school without enough money — she may end up stranded and begin to look for survival options that could harm her in the long run.
The man went further to suggest that parents should invest in skills or small businesses for their daughters instead. He said something like: “It’s better to train a girl in a trade, open a shop for her, and let her get good at it, than to leave her suffering in school without money.” Personally, I will agree that some parents overpush their children into education they can’t sustain.
He even mentioned that many female students in higher institutions end up exposed to dangers. Some of them, he claimed, fall into the hands of internet fraudsters, ritualists, or turn to hookups just to survive. I have also heard stories of young women sending money back home instead of getting proper support from their parents. Let check it — this is actually happening in society, whether we like it or not.
On social media, people reacted in different ways. Bro Fidel commented: “Your point makes some sense, but look at women like Marie Curie and Oprah Winfrey. Most great women came from tough beginnings before becoming successful.” Emmanuel added: “So what about the boys? Are you saying male children should still go to school even if parents can’t afford it? That doesn’t sound balanced.”
Another user, BigSam, said: “People think education is just about making money. But have you ever sat in a room of educated people compared to a room of uneducated people? There’s a clear difference in communication, ideas, and presentation. Education is not only about money.”
D3mzy was harsher: “What about male children? This guy must be high; he looks like a junkie.” But Hulk jumped in to defend him, saying: “Stop attacking people. He’s just saying the truth. Nowadays, it’s rare to find a female student who isn’t doing hookups in one way or another because funds are not there. At least a man can hustle differently.”
From my own view, I have seen parents who put children in school even when they know things are tough. I will not say education is bad, but I want to stress that education without proper support can frustrate anyone. At the end of the day, it’s about balance — if you can’t afford full school support, then maybe teaching a child a skill first is not such a bad idea.
