Brief History of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) was established in 1960 and is widely recognized as the first indigenous and fully autonomous university in Nigeria. It was founded by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria’s first President, who envisioned a university that would reflect the nation’s culture, needs, and aspirations.
UNN officially opened on October 7, 1960, just six days after Nigeria gained independence. Modeled after the American educational system, it was created to serve as a catalyst for national development through teaching, research, and public service.
Located in Nsukka, Enugu State, the university has expanded over the years and now comprises four campuses:
- Nsukka Campus (Main campus)
- Enugu Campus (UNEC)
- Ituku-Ozalla Campus
- Aba Campus

UNN Aspirants update on Change of Course or Institution Still Ongoing
Thinking of switching to the University of Nigeria (UNN)? You still have the chance! If you want to change your course or make UNN your new first-choice institution, the process is simple and still open.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Walk into any accredited JAMB CBT centre near you.
2. Let them know you want to apply for a change of course or institution.
3. Make the required payment for the service.
4. Fill in your correct details and submit.
5. Once done, your records will be updated on the JAMB portal.
Don’t wait until it’s too late take advantage of this window if you’re serious about studying at UNN.
UNN Aspirant Update: Uploading of O’Level Results (JAMB & UNN Portal)
Are you an aspirant of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)? If you didn’t upload your O’level results during your JAMB registration, here’s what you need to know and do now:
Uploading O’Level Results on JAMB Portal
JAMB has reopened the portal for uploading O’level results.
Visit any accredited JAMB CBT centre near you with your results (either in soft or hard copy).
Provide your JAMB profile details to the CBT personnel.
Your WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB results will be uploaded directly to the JAMB portal.
Note: Uploading your O’level result to the JAMB portal is very important for admission consideration.
Uploading on UNN Portal
The uploading of O’level results to the UNN portal has not started yet.
UNN will activate the portal when the Post-UTME screening registration begins.
Extra Tips for UNN Aspirants
If your O’level result is not available now “waiting result”, don’t worry, you can still register for the UNN screening once it begins. You’ll be given the opportunity to upload your O’level result as soon as the institution incharge of your O’level result makes the publication that the O’level result is available for candidates. This option is only for candidates who have already written the exam and are waiting for the results to be released.
Also, if you’re waiting to compare grades from another O’level exam (e.g. WAEC vs NECO), you can still upload the result later once you’ve made your final decision.
Once the UNN Post-UTME screening portal opens, you will be able to upload your O’level result during the registration process.

UNN Aspirant Update: 2025/2026 Screening Registration and Cut-Off Mark
The UNN Post-UTME screening registration portal for the 2025/2026 academic session has not yet been activated. As of now, the official cut-off mark for this year has also not been released.
For reference, during the previous admission session, UNN used 160 as the general JAMB cut-off mark. However, the university is yet to announce the official score for this current session.
Once the cut-off mark and screening registration portal are officially released by UNN, we will share the update immediately in this page so you don’t miss out.

Other thing to note:
- We are expecting the UNN Screening/Direct entry registration form for 2025/2026 academic section to be out in the month of July 2025.
- UNN Departmental Cut-off mark might not be officially published. It wasn’t published last academic year too, so if your aggregate score is too low you might consider a change of course. (Please it should be your own decision)
- Through research if we are able to lay our hands on any departmental cut off-mark we will let you all know through this page.

When will UNN release the First/Merit Admission List?
UNN hasn’t announced the date for the Admission list to be released.
When will the UNN Post UTME Screening result be out?
UNN Post-UTME Screening result will be out a 2 to 4 weeks after UNN conclude their screening registration.

When will UNN Aspirants/Prospective students come to school?
All UNN aspirants and prospective students are advised not to come to the school unless they are officially required to come through UNN Post-UTME exam, but since 3 academic sections now the University of Nigeria (UNN) has not conduct Post-UTME exams.
So if their is no Post-UTME exam this year (for now it’s Unknown) Aspirants are expected to stay at home and wait for their admission status to be changed this will be after you must have registered for the UNN Screening Registration for the 2025/2026 academic session. Once you’ve been offered admission and the university announces the resumption date for the session, you can then begin to plan your journey to campus.

Will there be another list after the first admission list is out?
Yes, there will be another list so UNN aspirants should not bother themselves after the first list, because there will still be more lists that will come out.
How many lists does UNN usually release in every academic session?
They usually release 5 or 6 lists for UTME candidates who choose UNN as their first choice and participate in their online screening or post utme exam as the case may be. You are advice to wait patiently or purchase the shopping form from UNN official website to stand a better chance of admission.
Will there be another opportunity to reapply for another course in the UNN portal?
Yes, UNN will make available the shopping/advert Form for this academic session after the first list is out. We will update this page immediately after the shopping/advert list is available for purchase.
