UNN SUG Election 2024/2025: Ozoagu Chinedu Wins Presidency as Full List of Winners Emerges – The much-anticipated UNN SUG Election 2024/2025 has officially come to an end, and the results are in. The Students Union Government (SUG) election at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) was conducted on Friday, June 13, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library premises, marking a new beginning for student leadership on campus.

At the end of the voting process, Mr. Ozoagu Chinedu Godswill, a 300-level student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, emerged as the newly elected SUG President. He secured a total of 1,686 votes, defeating Emmanuel Amoke from Pharmaceutical Sciences, who polled 839 votes, and Chukwuebuka Okpe from Psychology, who came third with 436 votes.

This victory marks a significant milestone in the UNN SUG Election 2024/2025, with Ozoagu Chinedu now set to lead the student body for the rest of the session.

Vice-President and Other Unopposed Winners

In addition to the presidential seat, several other candidates emerged victorious. Miss Joy Onah from the Economics Department was elected as the new Vice-President. She ran unopposed and secured an impressive 2,593 votes.

Similarly, Theophilus Ifeanyichukwu Omogo from Theatre and Film Studies was elected as the Director of Socials, also unopposed, with a total of 2,346 votes.

Full List of Elected SUG Officials Emerges

As the UNN SUG Election 2024/2025 progressed, more winners were declared. Brendan Asadu from Pharmacy was elected as the Financial Secretary with 1,395 votes, while Chibuzor Oluoha from Public Administration became the Director of Transport with 2,174 votes.

Chibueze Ozowara Isaac from Computer Science emerged as the new Director of Information, polling 2,427 votes.

Assistant Secretary-General, Treasurer, and Director of Games

Valentine Ojobo from Science Education was elected Assistant Secretary-General, receiving a total of 2,499 votes. On the other hand, Precious Muonyelu from Social Works clinched the Treasurer position with 2,411 votes.

In a closely contested race, Frederick Odenigbo from Plant Science and Biochemistry won the post of Director of Games with 1,466 votes, narrowly defeating Chukwuebuka Chukwuma from Social Works, who garnered 1,417 votes.

Secretary-General and Director of Welfare Results

For the position of Secretary-General, Simon Utazi from Agricultural Extension came out on top with 862 votes. He was followed by Asogwa Michael from History and International Studies, who polled 848 votes, and Noble Onwuka from Electronics and Computer Engineering, who got 511 votes.

The race for Director of Welfare saw Emmanuel Omeje from Pharmaceutical Sciences winning with 846 votes. He was trailed by Emmanuel Christian from Political Science with 832 votes, Emmanuel Ezemba from Biochemistry with 682 votes, and Chidera Okechukwu from Industrial Technical Education, who came in fourth with 575 votes.

Students Commend the Election Process

Students who participated in the UNN SUG Election 2024/2025 expressed satisfaction with the entire process. Aneke Maria-Thelma, a student of Mass Communication, said she voted without facing any issues and described the election as free and fair.

Likewise, Amagba Chinecherem from Pharmacy praised the exercise, calling it “stress-free and smooth,” and likening it to June 12, a symbol of credible elections in Nigerian history.

An official of the electoral commission, who wished to remain anonymous, said that this year’s election was a major improvement compared to past ones. He also appreciated the students for turning out peacefully to exercise their voting rights.

President-Elect Promises to Prioritize Student Needs

Following his victory in the UNN SUG Election 2024/2025, President-elect Ozoagu Chinedu assured the student body of his dedication to their welfare. In his speech, he promised to be a servant leader focused on academic advancement, student support, and positive reforms.

He also encouraged the university community to cooperate with his administration to achieve common goals.

The UNN SUG election, held every two years, is organized by the University of Nigeria Electoral Commission (UNESCO). The commission oversees the smooth conduct of the election and ensures that the process remains transparent and fair.

All winners from the UNN SUG Election 2024/2025 will begin their duties immediately and are expected to serve until the end of the next academic session, as stipulated by the university’s constitution.
