JAMB 2025 Resit Result: Over 379,000 Candidates to Get Results This Week – Here’s What to Know

JAMB 2025 Resit Result: Over 379,000 Candidates to Get Results This Week – Here’s What to Know: If you were part of the over 379,000 students who retook the 2025 UTME, there’s finally good news – JAMB has confirmed when your results will be out.

This year’s JAMB UTME has been full of tension and confusion. Out of nearly 1.9 million students who sat for the original exam, most scored below expectations. Many candidates faced technical issues during the test, especially in Lagos and the South-East, leading to disrupted sessions and unfair results.

The complaints were so serious that JAMB had to launch an investigation – and what they discovered was alarming.

Why the JAMB UTME Resit Was Conducted

JAMB revealed that several exam centres experienced a mix of technical failures and human errors that badly affected candidates’ performance. The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, accepted full responsibility and promised that affected students would get a second chance.

He described the issues as acts of “sabotage” and confirmed that resits were arranged for the affected students between Friday and Monday.

JAMB Resit Results 2025 Will Be Released on Wednesday, May 21

According to JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the board will officially release the results of the rescheduled UTME on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Here’s a breakdown of the 379,997 candidates who participated in the resit:

  • 206,610 candidates sat for the rescheduled exam in 65 centres across Lagos
  • 173,387 candidates sat in 92 centres across the South-East

Many students have already received SMS alerts from JAMB about the resit. Now, they just need to wait a little longer for their results.

Performance of Candidates in the Original 2025 UTME

Before the resit, JAMB released the original UTME results—and the figures caused nationwide reactions:

  • 0.24% (4,756 candidates) scored 320 and above
  • 0.39% (7,658 candidates) scored 300–319
  • 3.76% (73,441 candidates) scored 250–299
  • 17.11% (334,560 candidates) scored 200–249
  • 50.29% (983,187 candidates) scored 160–199
  • 24.97% (488,197 candidates) scored 140–159
  • Over 2,000 candidates scored below 100

These results raised concerns about the quality of testing and fairness of the exam process.

Lawmakers Call for JAMB Registrar’s Resignation

In response to the widespread failure and disorganized resit schedule, the South-East Caucus in the House of Representatives called for the resignation of Prof. Ishaq Oloyede. They blamed JAMB for poor communication and clashing the resit with the ongoing WAEC 2025 exams, causing stress for students and parents.
