Kaduna Polytechnic Expels 63, Suspends 36 Over Exam Malpractice and Fraudulent Admissions: Kaduna Polytechnic has taken a firm stand against academic misconduct, expelling 63 students and suspending 36 others for offences ranging from examination malpractice to fraudulent admissions. This development follows investigations by two disciplinary committees and was approved at the institution’s 114th Academic Board Meeting, held on April 30, 2025.

According to a circular signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), Abdullahi Muhammad, the affected students were found guilty after a detailed review by the Fraudulent Admission and Related Matters Investigation Committee (FARMIC) and the Examination Misconduct Cases and Malpractice Committee (EMCMC).
FARMIC discovered that five students gained admission into the institution through questionable and fraudulent processes. Among them were Essien Margret Lawrence and Maryam Nasir, whose admissions were either completely withdrawn or terminated through expulsion. The Polytechnic described the findings as deeply troubling and emphasized the need to sanitize the system.
The EMCMC, on the other hand, revealed a widespread pattern of examination malpractice involving over 70 students across several departments, including Mass Communication, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Public Administration, and Architecture. Following their investigation, some students were expelled while others were suspended, depending on the severity of the offence.
Students affected include Lawrence Samuel Anto (Building Technology), Fauziya Abdulrahman Buba (Mass Communication), and Ibrahim Muhammed Nazeer (Civil Engineering), all of whom were expelled. Others such as Joseline Beauty Jonah and Muazu Umar were handed suspensions of varying durations.
However, not all the outcomes were negative. Three students, including Abubakar Ibrahim Ashir from the Computer Science Department, were exonerated by the panels after being found innocent of any wrongdoing. This, the institution noted, reflects its commitment to fairness in its disciplinary process.
Kaduna Polytechnic reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards academic dishonesty, stressing that it would not condone any actions capable of undermining the credibility of its certificate or academic reputation. The management added that disciplinary actions such as these are not taken lightly but are necessary to preserve the integrity of the institution.
Students are therefore advised to steer clear of misconduct and focus on their studies, as the Polytechnic remains committed to enforcing discipline and upholding academic standards.
