The University of Calabar management has announced the cut-off mark for the 2024/2025 admission screening exercise.
- The Cut-off Mark is 140
The current UTME cut-off mark for the University of Calabar (UNICAL) is 140. UNICAL invites candidates who made it their first choice in the recently concluded UTME to apply for admission into their desired departments.
Each year, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announces its cut-off mark before the admission screening process begins. The cut-off for this session has been released by both UNICAL and JAMB, as detailed below.

What’s the O’level requirements to study in UNICAL
To study at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), candidates must meet the following O’level requirements:
- Minimum of Five Credits: Candidates must have at least five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in their O’level examinations (WAEC, NECO, or equivalent).
- Relevant Subjects: The other three credits must be in subjects relevant to the intended course of study. For instance, science courses might require credits in subjects like Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, while arts and social sciences might require credits in subjects like Literature-in-English, Government, and Economics.
- Single Sitting Requirement: Some departments may require that these five credits be obtained in a single sitting, while others may accept results from not more than two sittings.

University of Calabar (UNICAL) 2023/2024 Cut-Off Mark
The official JAMB and departmental cut-off mark is 140. Candidates must score at least 140 to be eligible to register for the exercise. However, for competitive courses like Medicine & Surgery, Law, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Science, candidates are advised to aim for a score of at least 210 due to the high competition.
What If You Don’t Meet the Minimum Cut-Off Mark?
Meeting the cut-off mark is mandatory to register for the Post-UTME/DE Screening exercise. Those who do not meet the minimum but chose UNICAL as their first choice have two options: obtain a JAMB change of course form or a change of institution form.
