UNN Freshers Resumption Date Is On January 5, 2026

UNN Releases 2025/2026 Resumption Dates, Registration Procedures, and Student Guidelines: The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has officially announced the resumption timetable and detailed registration guidelines for the 2025/2026 academic session. This information, issued by the Office of the Registrar, is meant to guide newly admitted and returning students, as well as parents and guardians, for a smooth start to the academic year.

UNN Resumption Dates Overview

  • Fresh Students: Monday, 5 to 9 January 2026
  • Returning Students: Monday, 19 January 2026
  • (Lectures will commence immediately upon resumption)

Orientation activities and other academic programmes are already captured in the University’s approved Calendar of Events.

Acceptance of Provisional Admission: Instructions for UNN Freshers/Newly admitted Students

All candidates offered provisional admission into UNN for the 2025/2026 academic session are required to complete the following steps:

1. Accept Admission on JAMB CAPS

Candidates must log in to the JAMB portal and click “Accept Admission”. Failure to do so will render the admission invalid.

2. Generate Acceptance Fee Invoice

Log in to the UNN portal using your JAMB registration number to generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR).

3. Pay Acceptance Fee

Total acceptance fee is ₦50,000

Candidates who earlier paid ₦30,000 are required to pay the ₦20,000 balance

4. Confirm Payment

Ensure the invoice details and confirmation numbers are correctly captured at the bank.

5. Print Admission Slip and Complete Acceptance Form

Return to the UNN portal to complete the acceptance process and print the necessary documents.

6. Proceed with Other Payments and Registration

Complete all remaining steps as outlined on the UNN portal.

Important Notice: Admission is provisional and may be withdrawn if candidates fail to fully satisfy the entry requirements.

Free Transportation for Newly Admitted Students

To reduce the stress of arrival, UNN has provided free shuttle services for fresh students:

  • Dates: 5–9 January 2026
  • Time: 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm daily
  • Departure Point: Nsukka Bus Terminal
  • Destination: UNN Campus

Temporary Accommodation for First-Year Students

Fresh students who are yet to complete hostel payments may apply for temporary accommodation, valid for six (6) days only.

Nsukka Campus

  • Alvan Ikoku Hostel (Male)
  • Okpara Hostel (Female)

Enugu Campus

  • Kenneth Dike Hostel (Male)
  • Mariere Hostel (Female)
  • Required Documents

For you to be given the temporary Hostel Accomodation at UNN you will provide the details below:

  • Acceptance fee receipt
  • Admission list page displaying the candidate’s name
  • Valid means of identification (National ID, International Passport, or Voter’s Card)

Original copies of all IDs must be presented for verification.

UNN Registration Process for Freshers/Newly admitted Students

UNN Faculty registration begins on 5 January 2026 across all faculties.

Conference registration for Clinical Sciences, Dentistry, and Health Sciences & Technology will take place at Ekpo Convocation Hall, Nsukka, starting 12 January 2026.

Major registration steps include:

  • Portal verification and password creation
  • Payment of acceptance and school fees
  • Faculty clearance
  • Course registration
  • Commencement of lectures

UNN Documents Required for freshers Faculty Clearance

Students must present the following documents during clearance:

  • Provisional clearance slip
  • O’Level result(s)
  • Admission letter and admission list
  • UNN POST-UTME screening results
  • Birth certificate
  • Student profile
  • Local Government Identification
  • Letter of undertaking
  • School fees payment receipt
  • Attestation letter signed by parent or guardian

Important Information for All UNN Freshers Students

UNN does not request payments through phone calls or emails, avoid being scammed.

Issues related to double admission should be reported to: doubleadmission@unn.edu.ng

Problems with RRR recovery should be directed to: recoveryrrr@unn.edu.ng

Candidates must be at least 16 years old

WAEC/NECO scratch cards are required for result verification
