I Inherited 104 Uncompleted Projects, and I have Completed 73 — UNN VC
In 2019, Professor Charles Igwe, Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), disclosed that his administration was faced with the daunting task of dealing with 104 unfinished projects that were inherited from the previous administration. These projects, which were funded by various sources such as TETFUND interventions, NEEDS assessments, capital allocations, and internally generated funds, posed a significant challenge for Igwe and his team.
However, displaying their commitment to progress and effective resource management, Professor Igwe and his team have successfully completed 73 of these projects. The remaining 31 are currently undergoing construction and development.
Among the notable completed projects are the refurbishment of staff quarters, the establishment of the Institute of African Studies’ Cultural Center, and the construction of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
Professor Igwe emphasized that their achievements go beyond physical infrastructure. They have actively encouraged their staff to engage in impactful research and move away from the era of disregarded research projects. This dedication to research excellence holds the promise of propelling UNN even further forward.
