Good news for candidates seeking admission into Ignatius Ajuru University of Education as the school has officially announced the commencement of its 2026/2027 Post UTME and Direct Entry screening registration.
The university made this known through an official statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Chinonye A. Ajie. According to the announcement, candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2026 UTME can now apply for admission into the institution.
Interestingly, even candidates who did not choose IAUE as their first choice during JAMB registration can still apply, provided they are ready to change their institution to IAUE.
Brief History of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education
Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) was established in 1971 as the Advanced Teachers Training College in Rivers State. The institution was created to train qualified teachers and improve the standard of education in the state after the Nigerian civil war.
In 1975, it became Rivers State College of Education and later gained full university status in 2009. The school was renamed Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in honour of late Ambassador Ignatius Ajuru, who contributed greatly to the growth of education in Rivers State.
IAUE Post UTME 2026 Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the IAUE 2026/2027 Post UTME screening exercise, candidates must meet the following conditions:
Candidates must score at least 150 in the 2026 UTME.
Applicants must possess a minimum of five O’level credit passes including English Language and other subjects related to their course.
Candidates awaiting WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results can also apply.
Direct Entry candidates with qualifications such as NCE, HND, JUPEB, IJMB, Cambridge A-Level or First Degree are also eligible.
One important thing candidates should not ignore is the upload of O’level results. IAUE clearly stated that candidates awaiting results during JAMB registration must upload their results both on the JAMB portal and the university portal once available. Failure to do this may affect admission chances later.
IAUE Post UTME Registration Date and Deadline
The university revealed that the online registration portal will officially open on Monday, May 18, 2026 by 12:00 a.m.
The registration portal will close on Sunday, June 14, 2026 by 11:59 p.m.
Candidates are advised not to wait until the deadline before completing their application to avoid network issues or payment problems.
IAUE Post UTME Registration Fee
The screening registration fee for the 2026/2027 admission exercise is ₦2,000 only.
Payment will be made online through the official university portal using the Paystack payment platform.
How to Apply for IAUE Post UTME 2026/2027
Candidates are expected to complete their registration through the university admission portal.
- After visiting the IAUE website, applicants should: www.iaue.edu.ng.
- Click on the Admission menu.
- Select Undergraduate Studies.
- Open the 2026/2027 UTME/DE Screening Registration Portal.
- Confirm details using JAMB registration number.
- Enter active phone number and email address.
- Make payment online.
- Complete biodata registration.
- Print out the registration slip.
Candidates who recently changed their institution to IAUE are also expected to complete a separate registration form before proceeding with payment and profile update.
IAUE Screening Exercise Will Include Biometric Verification
Another important update from the university is that the screening exercise will be conducted using a hybrid format.
This means the process will involve:
- O’level and A’level result verification
- Data screening
- Candidate ranking
- Biometric validation
- The biometric exercise will take place at the university’s main campus located in Rumuolumeni, Rivers State.
The school said details about screening dates and venue arrangements will be announced later.
IAUE Warns Candidates Against Admission Fraud
The university also warned candidates and parents to stay away from anyone demanding money for admission
According to the institution, admission into IAUE is strictly based on merit and does not require payment to any individual or group.
Candidates were advised to report anyone requesting money for admission assistance or slot allocation.
The school equally stated that parents and unauthorized persons will not be allowed into screening venues during the exercise.
