UTME-JAMB Subject Requirements Criminology and Security Studies
For UTME candidates, it’s important to remember that English Language is mandatory. The remaining three (3) JAMB UTME subjects required for Criminology and Security Studies under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences include:
- Economics
- Mathematics
- Any one of the following: Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French, Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies
Special Considerations (Waivers) for Criminology and Security Studies
- UNILORIN requires Economics, Mathematics, and either Government, Geography, or History.
- UNILORIN also accepts Economics, Mathematics, and any of the following Social Science subjects: Geography, Commerce, or Government.
- WESTERN-DEL needs Economics, Mathematics, and any of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English.
- AAUA requires Economics, Mathematics, and another Social Science subject. For Criminology and Security Studies, they accept three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.
- FUK accepts Economics, Mathematics, and any of the following: Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French, CRS/IRS.
- KASU requires Economics, Mathematics, and one other subject.
O’Level JAMB Requirements for Criminology and Security Studies
To study Criminology and Security Studies, you’ll need five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics
- Any two (2) of the following: Arts or Social Science subjects

- FUOYE accepts five (5) SSCE credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Government, and one of the following: Economics, Commerce, Geography, or one Science/Arts subject.
- UNILORIN requires five (5) O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two of these: Commerce, Geography, Government.
- CCU requires five (5) O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two of either Arts or Social Science subjects.
- LCU requires English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two (2) other subjects.
Direct Entry Requirements
If you’re seeking Direct Entry admission, the following are required:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and one of the following: Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History, Government
Special Considerations (Waivers)
1. UNIJOS does not require:
- An O’Level credit pass in History and does not accept ND, HND, or NCE as entry qualifications.
2. AAUA does not accept:
- Physics, Chemistry, or Agricultural Science, but they do accept ND upper credit and HND lower credit in relevant programs.
3. CRAWFORD accepts:
- Statistics
- NCE passes in Economics, Mathematics, or any Social Science subject
- ND/HND with at least lower credit in relevant fields
4. WESTERN-DEL accepts:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and one other subject.
5. FUOYE requires:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography, or Statistics.
6. UNILORIN accepts:
- At least two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and one of Mathematics, Geography, or Government.
- UNILORIN Diploma in Money and Banking (Upper Credit) alongside UTME requirements.
7. FUD accepts:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Sociology, Economics, and either Geography, Government, or Civic Education.
- IJMB with nine (9) points in the subjects above.
- Diploma at Merit/Lower credit level in Crime Management, Law, Social Work, or similar programs.
8. FUK accepts:
- A minimum of Lower Credit in ND or recognized Diploma.
- Nine (9) points in IJMB/NCE in related Social Science disciplines.
9. COOU accepts:
ND with a GPA not below 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale), NCE, HND, or First Degree.
10. KASU accepts:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes from Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, and one other relevant subject.
- Foundations of professional exams like ICAN, ICCA, ICMA, ANAN.ND/HND Lower Credit in a relevant field.
